Each one of our marble parat bowls were, at one time, a mainstay in an Indian kitchen. They were traditionally used for kneading yeasted dough to make roti and were often passed down from generation to generation (along with the delicious recipes). This is actually why the edges are raised; it allows the dough to rise. Each parat bowl has a unique character and story of its own as each piece has been formed by hand.
