Lodestars Anthology is an independent magazine-meets-journal for curious travellers who long to be inspired, see the world and meet interesting characters along the road. Focusing on one country per issue, Lodestars is a scrapbook of place, a magazine that goes deep into the heart of a location and uncovers its charms, flavours and splendour, taking a truly personal, beautifully crafted and slow approach to the art of travel journalism.
With stunning photography, stories and illustrations – produced in Bristol by a small independent press with an eye for detail and a love for print – Lodestars is a thing of beauty in its own right. You’ll probably want to keep it atop a coffee table, or perhaps you’ll want to fill it with scribblings and notes and stow it away in your travel bag for inspiration whilst on the road.
In past issues we’ve rambled up the Keele River by canoe; gone hawk-walking in the bonnie braes, found paradise on Lord Howe Island, hitched a ride with ice-road truckers to Aklavik, and taken a turn around the winery with Sam Neill . . . We’ve bathed in onsens, practiced the art of Fika in Stockholm, followed ancient pilgrimage routes, and much more besides.
In 2018 we said bonjour to France and namaste to India, and re-issued an updated version of our original England magazine. In 2019 we ventured to Portugal, Switzerland and back to Japan, and in 2020 we published magazines dedicated to Mexico and Wales, 2021 saw of Greece and Australia issue enter the world, followed by Spain and Ireland. Next up, we travel back to Italy.
So if you like the idea of receiving a little piece of beautifully produced incitement to wanderlust through your letterbox several times a year, why not give the latest issue a try or dive into one of our back issues, and join us on this great adventure?
